The Town of Barrhead is presently accepting applications for the position of Aquatic Supervisor for the Barrhead Kinsmen Aquatic Centre. The position involves the operation of a 25 meter lane indoor pool, sauna, hot tub, and kiddie pool. The Aquatic Supervisor will be responsible for supervising the overall regulation of the aquatic facility, including pool maintenance and operations, staff training, supervision and scheduling, administration/implementation of programs and activities, as well as guarding and instructional activities. The Aquatic Supervisor will report to Recreation Director and work in collaboration with recreation staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

    · National Lifeguard Service (NLS)
    · Pool Operator I (with preference given to level II or III)
    · Current Standard First Aid and CPR (or equivalent)
    · Lifesaving Instructor
    · Red Cross Water Safety Instructor
    · Strong Public Relation Skills

*Additional qualifications will be considered an asset. Some of these may include NLSI, WSIT, FAI.

The anticipated Term of this position is 29 June 2009 to 07 September 2009

 

Under the supervision of the Aquatics Coordinator, the Swim Instructor/Lifeguard plans and prepares swimming lessons, instructs students at their appropriate level in accordance with guidelines set out by Red Cross and Lifesaving Society programs and provides feedback to participants and/or parents with recommendations for improvements. He/she performs lifeguard duties and participates in meetings and in-service training, clinics and club events. She/He opens and closes the aquatic facility, ensures the safety of all participants while in the pool facility and assists in maintaining the pool office, pool deck and storage areas in a neat and tidy manner.

 

Qualifications:

-       High school diploma AND some experience

OR

-       An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience will also be considered

-       Current National Lifeguard Service (NLS) – Pool Option qualification

-       Current CPR Level C and Standard First Aid qualifications

-       Current Water Safety Instructor certification

The City of Brooks requires a Pool Shift Supervisor I in the Recreation & Parks Services Department. This is a permanent position, primarily involved at the Aquatic Centre.
